Ted’s essays

Idaho Statesman response

As one of two candidates for Ada County Sheriff, I met with the Idaho Statesman editorial board. Confident they would endorse the incumbent Republican, I had nothing to lose, so I determined that regardless of their questions I would introduce the topics and reasons I am running for sheriff. They seemed surprised and unaware of the recent flood of executive orders and bills signed by the president that remove our rights to trials, to have a sworn affidavit accusing us of a crime, to a lawyer, to our lives, and to our properties. It’s not just the Obama administration as Romney has publicly supported these unconstitutional acts too. Both presidential candidates claim that without notice or recourse, Americans can be […]

Ada Liberty .com

I created and maintain two websites related to the Ted Dunlap for Ada County Sheriff election campaign. This one I intend to serve the people who are somewhat curious about who this guy is that is running for sheriff. Over at Ada Liberty .com, however, I publish a whole lot more information about WHY we need a Constitutional Sheriff. What are the threats to our liberty that are serious enough to inspire Ted Dunlap to spend most of a year in this effort? I suggest that the best way to understand that begins with the column on the left of that website. The Constitution and The Bill Of Rights are documented there as are the current raft of rules, laws […]

endorsement for Ted Dunlap

I met and spent some time with Delaware Sheriff Jeff Christopher at Canyon County sheriff candidate Ed Hendershot’s event in Caldwell. Jeff is a warm, caring, courageous and knowledgeable man anyone would be proud to know. I sure am. His endorsement of me and my sheriff campaign follows. It is with great honor and privilege that I endorse Ted Dunlap for your Ada County Idaho Sheriff. Why does a Delaware Sheriff concern himself with who is Sheriff in Idaho?, simply this, Whether you know it or not there is an attack upon the office of Sheriff here in America and the powers to be want it gone. That office is the one thing that stands between your constitutional rights, guaranteed […]

Constitution Day speech

I was one of the invited speakers at today’s Constitution Day Event on the Idaho Capital building steps. There were many great speeches. Almost all of them were heartfelt and strongly backed by long-term actions of the speakers. Here are my notes. I deviated only slightly from them in my presentation. Designed into our Constitution are many limits to an overwhelming STATE In the Constitution, the states retain all but strictly limited, delegated tasks 10th Amendment center and State sovereignty champions are winning some skirmishes here and there I ran for Idaho governor in 2006 and 2010 with the retained authority of the several states in mind Every officer, every official, every agent of the US government swears an oath […]

victimless crimes

I was interested in a couple of things you said on your site and in your flyers about lawful violations and crimes with real victims. What do you mean by that, and what are your ideas to fix the problem? – Mike Demory I have spent the last 15 years studying economics, sociology, government and laws from a perspective that is quite different than what is pushed by our government-controlled schools. Some of it is called Austrian economics and Libertarian politics, but I know it is too different to be well understood and accepted comfortably by all. So I have concluded that The Constitution is the foundation for our liberty, and that most people can embrace using that as our […]

Sheriff job definition

The Office of the County Sheriff dates back to at least 900 AD in England. The Sheriff had always been charged with protecting the rights and property of the sovereign. When the colonists came to North America, the Sheriff came too. He was still to protect the king’s interests. After the American Revolution, the Citizens became sovereign as individuals. The Office of County Sheriff remained. At that point, it became the duty and authority of the Sheriff to protect the Rights and property of the Sovereign Citizens – from any unlawful action. The Citizens then became the Sheriff’s boss. They still are. An invaluable reference tool on the authority of the County Sheriff is Anderson on Sheriffs: A Treatise on […]

freedom isn’t free

The Republican incumbent sheriff is sitting on a $2,000 residual from his uncontested election four years ago. The challenger is not. Brochures, handouts, signs, advertisements and more will cost money. The incumbent sees no problem subordinating the Sheriff’s Office to state and federal agents and agencies who walk right on through the limits put on them by the Constitution. The challenger insists THAT is the only defense our liberties have. The incumbent wants to increase your spending to build another jail. The one he is operating is FULL. Having the highest incarceration rate in the world raises no flags for him. The challenger will empanel a review to empty some jail bunks and send non-threatening people back to their jobs […]

Ron Paul

I am hard-pressed to think of a more powerful advertisement against a tyrinnacial government, and for a Constitutional Sheriff than this advertisement for Ron Paul. Ron Paul

Canyon County must write-in Ed Hendershot

Thanks to an elections clerk posessing marginal morality, Ed Hendershot, who registered his candidacy and began his camnpaign in November, is a write in for sheriff in the May 15th Canyon County Republican Primary. Ed Hendershot is the only choice. He is a Constitutional Sheriff. The other two want to be politicians who get to rub elbows with important people. Ed wants to ensure the life, liberty, property and tranquility of the people. This isn’t maybe. Contact his campaign for fliers. Take them door to door. Canyon County Liberty is at stake. Canyon County Republicans have a voter literacy test next Tuesday. Under “Sheriff” they can make their [X] or they can demonstrate that they are informed and write in […]

Liberty Conference

The Ed Hendershot for Canyon County Sheriff campaign put on a GREAT conference last Saturday. Here is a video clip of Ed’s impassioned speach. If you understand the threat to your (our) liberties, you will understand his emotion. 20 minute YouTube video
